Devon General Hospital

The Devon General Hospital is a 21-bed acute care and continuing care facility. Included in this total are nine acute, ten continuing care and two respite beds. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services, as well as laboratory and radiology services. Additional health services housed in the facility include public health, home care, adult day program, diabetes education, speech language, rehabilitation services, community nutrition, and mental health.

Public Health Unit
780.342.7069 The Devon Health Unit provides the following services: Healthy Beginnings, Postpartum Program, Communicable Disease Control, Healthy Families Program (ages 0-6 years), New Moms Network (0-6 months), Child Health Clinic (0-2 months), Breastfeeding Support, Early Pregnancy Classes, Pre-Natal Classes, School Health, Sexual Health, Post Partum Depression Program, Reproductive Health, Car Seat Inspection Clinics, as well as providing the community with information and resources.

Home Care
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) Home care provides services for home bound clients with needs for acute, short term or long term and/or palliative care. These services include nursing care, personal care, home assessments for equipment needs and Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) authorizations. Home Care also provides assessments for long term care placement and in hospital respite and works with the Devon General Hospital in planning for discharge home from acute care.
Community Care
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) Community Care provides care for wounds, AADL needs, ostomies, etc. for clients who are mobile and able to come in to the Devon General Hospital.
Adult Day Program
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) The Adult Day Program provides adults who are still living in the community an opportunity to access mental, physical, and social rehabilitation through a recreation model and also gives full caregivers a source for respite.
Rehabilitation Team
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) The team provides rehabilitation services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy to hospital and community clients.
Respiratory Therapy

Speech/Language Pathology
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) The department’s mandate is to prevent, assess, and treat communication disorders including speech, language, voice, stuttering, and related disorders. The focus of this program is on children to Grade 4.
Mental Health Therapist
780.963.6151 Counselling is available at Devon General Hospital by appointment only.
Diabetes Education
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) The Nurse Educator and Dietician offer a clinic that provides a full day class called "Taking Charge" of your diabetes. In addition, the Dietician teaches a pre-diabetes class for those at risk of developing diabetes.
Pastoral Care
780.342.7000 (Access through Switchboard) This program provides spiritual encouragement, counseling, and guidance. The Ministers and Priests in the Devon area share provision of services.
Special Services Accessible to Inpatients
Volunteers who will come and play cribbage, cards, and other games; visit patients, take clients for a walk.
